ProSpec Micro Shad

It’s a mistake to say that a multi-lure is inferior to a dedicated lure.

Many shad for bass exist, but I wanted a shad with by far the highest specs and multiple uses.

Domestically in Japan, we want it to be used for sea bass, kibble, rockfish, tropical fish, etc., but of course it works like a champ for bass!

The keyword in the development stage was to create a pro-spec micro shad.

What makes it pro-spec is easiest to understand when you cast it, but I dare to put it into words.

First of all, it responds to each and every input and rod work better than you can imagine. Even if you use it for a long time, you will not get bored or tired, and it performs well every single time.

The body size, silhouette, lip shape, and internal structure have been thoughtfully designed and engineered to pursue high performance, but we also naturally arrived at a modern and beautiful shape as a formative object. It is truly a combination of function and beauty.

It is simply exciting and fun to imagine casting a cool lure that is comfortable to use and has amazing performance.

Let me explain in more depth what and how well it is made.

■Tremendously sharp and crisp action
If you ask too much diving depth from a shad, it will not accept delicate manipulations and become a very “dull” lure. Have you ever experienced such a situation?

SH60-SP is set to dive up to MAX 1.5, but its vivid action and dart performance, which are the lifeblood of shad, are surprisingly sharp.

It has also been tuned to provide solid action without losing balance even when reeled in at extremely high speeds.

Special attention was paid to the stop after just reeling in the lure. And the way it stops and pauses after twitching. The sharp action and speed, followed by the complete immobility of the lure as it comes to a sudden stop, is the best way to turn on the switch of fish-eaters.

■This shad fly like crazy even though it’s a shad!
One of the drawbacks of shad is that they are not easy to cast.  Shad, you can catch fish, but you often think it is hard to make it fly far, right?

Therefore, we have installed a center-of-gravity weight transfer system, which is unusual for a shad of this size.

And it is not just a system.

The weight is made of cylindrical tungsten, which can be placed at the lowest possible center of gravity, with a lot of mass in a limited space.

What is most impressive is that the drum drive system (DDS), an extremely difficult technology for shifting the center of gravity of the cylindrical weights, is also incorporated.

The 60mm body and DDS, which exceeded the limits of previous models, produced a bullet distance that does not match the weight and size of the body.

■Armed with a strong hook
When targeting big fish-eaters that prey on small baits, as in the microbait pattern, the thin-shaft hooks generally attached to shad of this size are too weak. So often we tried changing to a thick shaft hook, but the balance was off and the lure sank without suspending. The action became dramatically worse. Have you ever had such an experience?

Since babyface is always designed to be used not only in Japan but also in fields around the world, and SH60-SP is designed to be used not only for small fish, but also for big fish, the hook is a strong type with a thick shaft. Naturally, however, we have produced an action setting that performs at full capacity with a heavy hook on its back.

■Line tolerance 
This type of small lure swims beautifully with thin line, but with thick line, the lure often does not swim as expected. This SH60-SP, which is based on the concept of “multi”, is designed to swim beautifully with up to about 20lbs fluorocarbon line! A nice thing to think about from the angler’s point of view.

■Suspend setting
The default suspend setting is a slightly slow floating setting at 16°C in freshwater. Let’s find your favorite shape and the best size from the commonly available snaps and set just suspend, taking into account the water temperature and salinity.
