The Aventa RS Chiquita is the smallest technical wing bait in its class, made of natural Japanese cedar wood. It inherits, without any compromise, the dead-slow performance of the Aventa RS, the ultimate dead-slow wing bait made of natural paulownia wood, while adding the ability to handle medium to fast retrieves.
Despite its tiny size of less than 5cm, the Aventa RS Chiquita achieves performance that rivals or surpasses the paulownia wood synonymous with the Aventa RS by using cedar wood. Cedar has high buoyancy (low specific gravity) second only to paulownia, yet offers durability, water resistance and strength great enough to be used as flooring in Japanese architecture; it is a natural material unique to Japan that has also been used in legendary crankbaits that made their mark in American history. In developing the Chiquita, because its body is overwhelmingly smaller than the Aventa RS, roughly the size of a small cicada, paulownia wood did not grip the water well and also lacked the strength to hold the wings and screw eyes. After carefully examining and selecting from a variety of natural woods for the right balance of "water grip" and "texture" that would not break down on the surface, plus the "strength" to withstand resistance, cedar wood was chosen.
