Shopping & Orders

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept credit and debit cards via Shopify Payments — Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and JCB. International customers can pay in their local currency through our multi-currency checkout — no need to convert to Japanese yen. Please note that your card issuer may apply foreign transaction fees, which are outside our control.

Can I pre-order upcoming products?

Yes. For upcoming releases, we create dedicated pre-order pages on our store. Follow our New Arrivals Blog or Instagram (@nushi2001) for pre-order announcements.

Can you hold an item for me?

Item holds are available for domestic (Japan) customers only. For international orders, we recommend purchasing directly through the online store as limited items sell out quickly.

How can I find out about new arrivals and limited releases?

New arrivals and limited releases are announced on our New Arrivals Blog and Instagram (@nushi2001). Limited-production items sell out very quickly, so we recommend following us to stay updated.

Is NUSHI an authorized dealer?

Yes. NUSHI is a licensed retail tackle shop that has been operating in Kyoto since 2001. All products are brand-new and authentic — we are not a reseller or dropshipper. We hold an Antique Dealer License (No. 611059910002) issued by the Kyoto Prefectural Public Safety Commission.

International Shipping

Do you ship internationally? Which countries?

Yes. We ship to 69 countries worldwide, including the USA, Canada, Australia, UK, Germany, France, and throughout Europe, Asia, and beyond. You can check whether your country is supported at checkout.

How do you ship international orders?

All international orders are shipped via DHL Express from our shop in Kyoto, Japan. Tracking is provided for every shipment.

How much does international shipping cost?

International shipping rates are calculated automatically at checkout based on your destination, package weight, and dimensions. If you would like a quote before ordering, please contact us with the items you are interested in and your shipping address.

How long does it take to process and ship my order?

Orders are typically processed and shipped within 3 business days after payment confirmation. Our shop is closed on Mondays and the third Sunday of each month — orders placed on those days will be processed on the next business day. Estimated delivery times via DHL Express:

  • Asia: 2–5 business days
  • North America: 3–7 business days
  • Europe: 3–7 business days
  • Oceania: 3–7 business days
  • Other regions: 5–10 business days

Please note that delivery times are estimates and may vary due to customs clearance, weather, or other factors beyond our control.

Can I track my shipment?

Yes. All international shipments include a DHL Express tracking number. You will receive your tracking number by email once your order has shipped.

Are fishing rods shipped differently?

Yes. Fishing rods require special packaging due to their length and may incur additional shipping fees compared to standard items. The exact rate is calculated and displayed at checkout based on the rod length and destination. Please note that domestic rod shipping within Japan is not available to Okinawa or remote islands.

Customs & Tariffs

What about customs duties and import taxes?

Import duties, taxes, and customs clearance fees are the responsibility of the recipient and are not included in the product price or shipping cost. Tax amounts vary by country — DHL or your local courier may collect these fees upon delivery. NUSHI is not responsible for any delays or additional costs caused by customs procedures in the destination country. Please check with your local customs office if you need an estimate before ordering.

I'm in the USA. What do I need to know about tariffs? (Updated April 2026)

US tariff rules have changed significantly in recent years. Below is a summary as of April 2026.

Current tariff situation (as of April 2026)

  • Since August 29, 2025, the de minimis exemption (which allowed imports under $800 to enter duty-free) has been eliminated. This remains in effect — all shipments from Japan are now subject to duties regardless of value.
  • On February 20, 2026, the US Supreme Court ruled that tariffs imposed under IEEPA (International Emergency Economic Powers Act) were unlawful.
  • From February 24 to July 24, 2026, a temporary flat 10% tariff applies under Section 122.
  • Japanese products are currently subject to approximately 10% duty.

What this means for your order

  • Duties and tariffs are not included in the product price or shipping cost. DHL will contact you before final delivery to collect any charges due.
  • DHL Express shipments to the US continue without disruption.
  • If you would like an estimate before ordering, please contact us with the items you are interested in. We can share the invoice value and HTS information, but the final duty amount is determined by US Customs and cannot be guaranteed by NUSHI.

Tariff rates change frequently. Please check the US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) website for the latest information. This FAQ entry reflects conditions as of April 2026 and is subject to change.

Returns & Refunds

Can I return or exchange a product?

Returns and exchanges are accepted within 7 days of delivery in the following cases:

Eligible (return shipping covered by NUSHI for domestic Japan orders)

  • The product arrived damaged, soiled, or defective
  • You received an item different from your order

Not eligible

  • Returns for buyer's convenience (wrong color, wrong size, change of mind)
  • Items that have been used
  • Items damaged or soiled due to buyer's handling
  • Items reported more than 8 days after delivery

What are the return conditions for international orders?

For orders shipped outside Japan, the following special conditions apply. Please read carefully before placing your order.

  • Return shipping cost: The customer is fully responsible for all return shipping costs back to Japan, regardless of the reason for return — including damaged, defective, or incorrect items. Return shipping costs are non-refundable.
  • Original shipping fees: The original international shipping fee paid at checkout is non-refundable.
  • Customs duties and taxes: Import duties, taxes, and customs clearance fees paid in the destination country are non-refundable, as these are collected by the local government and not by NUSHI.
  • Return address: All returns must be sent to our shop in Kyoto, Japan. Prior contact is required — items returned without prior approval will not be accepted.
  • Refund currency: Refunds are processed in the original transaction currency. Due to exchange rate fluctuations, the refunded amount in your local currency may differ from the amount originally charged. NUSHI is not responsible for any currency exchange differences.
  • Risk of return shipping: The customer assumes all risk during return shipping. We recommend using a tracked and insured shipping method. NUSHI is not responsible for items lost or damaged during return transit.

How do refunds work?

Refunds will be issued via the original payment method within 7 business days after we confirm receipt of the returned item. For international orders, refunds are processed in the original transaction currency. Due to exchange rate fluctuations, the refunded amount in your local currency may differ from the amount originally charged.

What if my order arrives damaged?

If your item arrives damaged during shipping, please contact us within 7 days of delivery with:

  • Photos of the damaged item
  • Photos of the outer packaging

We will arrange either a replacement or a refund for the item value, subject to verification. Please keep all original packaging until the claim is resolved.

Can I visit your shop in person?

Absolutely! If you are traveling to Japan, we would love for you to visit our shop in Kyoto. You can see and handle all products in person.

Do you offer gift wrapping?

We are sorry, but gift wrapping is not available at this time.

Can I contact you in English?
